March 12th this year marked my country’s 48th Tree Planting Day. The 2025 China National Greening Status Bulletin, released that day by the National Greening Committee Office, showed that in 2025, China completed afforestation of 3.563 million hectares and restored 4.927 million hectares of degraded grasslands. The forest coverage rate reached 25.09%, the forest-grassland coverage rate exceeded 56%, and the forest stock volume reached 20.988 billion cubic meters.

In the past year, large-scale national greening initiatives have been deepened, with the continued implementation of 166 “dual” projects, 27 integrated protection and restoration projects for mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, and deserts, 10 national greening demonstration projects, and 68 ecological restoration demonstration projects for historically abandoned mines, continuously improving the quality and stability of ecosystems in key areas.

At the same time, the supply capacity of related ecological products has been continuously strengthened, with the total output value of the forestry and grassland industry approaching 11 trillion yuan. Annual timber production reached 140 million cubic meters, forest food production exceeded 240 million tons, and tea oil production reached 1.18 million tons. Forest-based health and wellness and birdwatching are experiencing a sustained boom, with ecotourism receiving over 3 billion visitors annually.
