去年七月,我们在西交利物浦大学发起了第一次人间回声-寻找孤独社会采访项目,并取得了一定积极影响和反馈;今天,我们继续与采访了部分西交利物浦大学新加入的留学生和两位教授 ,他(她) 们分别来自于英国,法国,墨西哥,巴勒斯坦,加拿大,澳大利亚,面对陌生环境下产生的“孤独感”以及了解他们通过哪些方法适应新的学习生活。 我从他们的回答中汲取到了有价值的信息和难以想象的收获。
在西浦任教English Language Academic Skills课程的两位英国教授Richie与Stuart分享了他们对中国的第一印象与教学观察。他们认为,中国“很有趣”,社会节奏与文化结构都与西方不同。 谈及教育差异,两人指出,西方教学更强调build社区氛围,鼓励学生讨论与表达;而在中国课堂中,学生更习惯听教授讲课,较少主动用英文发言。Stuart坦言自己偶尔会感到孤独,但因妻子是中国人,生活适应较为顺利;Richie则表示自己性格较有耐心,能够逐步融入环境。 关于在英国减少孤独的方式,Stuart提到喝酒是一种常见社交方式,Richie则更倾向通过社交媒体聊天维系联系。不过他们也指出,社交媒体在一定程度上让人减少外出交流,可能加深某种形式的孤立感。 Richie and Stuart, two British professors teaching English Language Academic Skills at XJTLU, shared their first impressions and teaching observations of China.
