■ Overeating and Irregular Eating: Binge eating overburdens the gastrointestinal tract, forcing the heart to work excessively and easily leading to myocardial ischemia.
Fried Foods: Fried foods contain large amounts of oil, increasing blood lipid levels and easily causing arterial plaque, thrombosis, and even myocardial infarction.
Excessive Alcohol Consumption: This increases heart rate and blood pressure, potentially triggering arrhythmias.
Obesity: Obesity significantly increases the risk of coronary artery disease, a major cause of sudden death.
■ Straining During Bowel Movements: Straining during bowel movements causes a sudden increase in abdominal pressure, leading to a rapid rise in blood pressure and increased burden on the heart, potentially triggering angina, myocardial infarction, or malignant arrhythmias.
■ Excessive Stress: Working long hours or being in a state of excessive tension and excitement keeps the sympathetic nervous system continuously excited, causing the secretion of large amounts of vasoactive substances, vasoconstriction, and increased blood pressure. This makes the heart and blood vessels more susceptible to damage, increasing the risk of myocardial infarction. ■ Prolonged Bathing in Excessively Hot Water: Excessively hot water accelerates blood circulation, leading to abnormal heart rate. Prolonged bathing in a confined space can also cause chest tightness, palpitations, and other discomfort. It is recommended to keep the water temperature between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius and limit the bathing time to no more than 20 minutes. Elderly individuals should ideally have assistance while bathing.
■ Strenuous Exercise: Strenuous exercise can cause a sudden increase in blood pressure and heart rate, leading to insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle and increasing the risk of myocardial infarction. For middle-aged and elderly individuals, gentle aerobic exercise such as brisk walking or jogging is recommended, and the duration should not exceed one hour. If chest tightness, shortness of breath, or other discomfort occurs, stop immediately and rest.
■ Extreme Emotions: Extreme sadness or anger can cause symptoms of “broken heart syndrome,” such as chest pain, shortness of breath, and chest tightness, endangering heart health.
■ Prolonged Sitting: Prolonged sitting at a desk or staring at a television or mobile phone slows blood flow, increasing the risk of blood clots. If a blood clot breaks off and blocks blood vessels in the brain, heart, or lungs, it can lead to sudden death.

Six Good Habits to Protect Your Heart
To ensure your heart can continuously and powerfully pump blood throughout the body, you must understand its preferences. Adhering to these six good habits in daily life can help maintain heart health.
1. Balanced Diet, Control Salt Intake: Eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Consume at least 500 grams of vegetables and half a pound of fruit daily. Add buckwheat or red beans to rice and white flour, or replace some staple foods with potatoes or corn. Consume sufficient protein. Eat more white meat such as fish and chicken, and less red meat such as pork; moderately increase eggs, dairy products, and soy products. Control salt intake to no more than 5 grams per day.
2. Ensure Sufficient Sleep: Studies show that insufficient sleep (less than 7 hours) increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Adults should generally ensure 7-8 hours of sleep, and the elderly need 5-6 hours.
3. Moderate Exercise: Aerobic exercise can make your heart more active, such as jogging, swimming, Tai Chi, and yoga. It is recommended to exercise for 30 minutes daily, at least 3 times a week. Avoid prolonged sitting; get up and move around for 3-5 minutes every hour you sit. 4. During exercise, your heart rate should not exceed 20% of your baseline heart rate; it is recommended to keep it around 120 beats per minute.
5. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. Adults need 1500-1700 ml of water daily, approximately 8 glasses (200 ml per glass). Heart disease patients should drink water in small, frequent sips; those with renal insufficiency should reduce their water intake accordingly.
6. Quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption. Both active and passive smoking increase the risk of inflammation and blood clots, seriously damaging cardiovascular health. Alcohol is also detrimental to the cardiovascular system. Men should ideally consume less than 25 grams of alcohol per day, and women less than 15 grams, with a maximum of 100 grams per week.
7. Maintain a positive mindset. Prolonged stress increases levels of hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, leading to elevated blood pressure and increased heart rate. Deep breathing and meditation can help relieve stress and reduce the secretion of stress hormones.
